1960s Beni M'Guild Vintage Rug 300×185 cm – Warm Sand & Terracotta Patina, V-278

Authentic 1960s–1970s Beni M'Guild rug handwoven in the Middle Atlas Mountains of Morocco using 100% natural sheep wool. This is a true vintage tribal textile from the period considered by collectors as the golden era of Moroccan rug weaving, before commercial export production changed wool quality and weaving rhythms.

This rug represents the quiet sophistication typical of older Beni M'Guild pieces — dense wool, balanced tribal geometry and a beautifully developed natural patina.

Color & character

The field shows a warm sand base with soft faded terracotta and light ochre tones, created by natural wool aging over decades. The surface reveals subtle speckling in muted charcoal, warm brown and aged rust tones, giving the rug depth and movement without visual noise.

The diamond lattice appears in softly faded dark brown / charcoal, no longer harsh black, which is a strong indicator of natural dye aging.

Overall palette impression:

warm sand • faded terracotta • light ochre • charcoal accents • aged earth tones

This makes the rug especially suitable for:
– warm minimalist interiors
– organic modern spaces
– Mediterranean homes
– wabi-sabi aesthetics
– neutral architectural interiors

Craftsmanship & authenticity

Handwoven by Berber women using traditional tribal techniques, this rug shows all the structural markers of authentic mid-century Moroccan production:

• 100% high-altitude Atlas wool
• Hand-knotted construction
• Dense winter wool typical of Beni M'Guild
• No synthetic structure
• No glued backing
• Natural irregularities from hand weaving
• Visible tribal symbolism
• Authentic 60–70s wool quality

The wool has developed the characteristic soft matte finish and supple handle only found in true vintage pieces.

Dimensions

300 × 185 cm
Approx:
9.8 × 6 ft

Ideal for:
– living room statement rug
– under dining table
– master bedroom
– design collector interiors

Collector insight

Rugs from the 1960s–1970s Beni M'Guild production period are particularly valued because they were woven before tourism demand accelerated production. Wool from this era is typically denser, richer in lanolin and more durable than later pieces.

This is a one-of-a-kind textile that cannot be replicated.
