Vintage 1970s Boujaad Rug, 325 x 170 cm, V-276

Vintage Boujaad Rug – Soft Terracotta Blush & Oxidized Green Harmony

Circa 1960s–1970s · Handwoven in the Haouz Region, Morocco

This exceptional Boujaad rug reveals a rare, beautifully muted palette — where faded terracotta, dusty salmon, warm sand, and oxidized sage green blend into an almost watercolor-like composition.

The base carries a soft clay-rose tone — not bright, but matured and gently sun-washed. Over it, vertical bands of moss green and deep eucalyptus create a subtle architectural rhythm, giving the rug structure without heaviness.

The effect is refined, calm, and deeply sophisticated.

✧ Vertical Symbolic Composition

Unlike the more common diamond-dominant Boujaad layouts, this piece features elongated vertical columns filled with delicate Amazigh motifs:

  • Abstract floral forms

  • Protective talismanic symbols

  • Small geometric guardians

  • Organic plant-like figures

The vertical rhythm elongates the space visually — making it ideal for rooms with high ceilings or narrow layouts.

The border is discreet, framing the composition with restraint rather than bold contrast.

✧ Aged Pigment & Natural Patina

The green tones show gentle oxidation — shifting between sage, pistachio, and muted emerald depending on light.
The terracotta base moves between dusty peach and warm blush clay.

This chromatic softness is the result of time and natural dyes — impossible to replicate artificially.

Under warm light, the rug glows softly.
Under cooler light, the greens become more pronounced.

✧ Texture & Feel

Woven in Atlas wool, the pile is medium and supple with a slightly softened finish from age. It feels organic and grounded, yet visually light.

This is not a heavy, dark Boujaad — it is luminous and breathable.

Perfect for:

  • Mediterranean interiors

  • Scandinavian spaces seeking warmth

  • Refined bohemian homes

  • Neutral architectural settings

✧ A True One-of-a-Kind Textile

Subtle asymmetries and tonal variations confirm its handmade origin. Each motif was woven freely by the artisan, without mechanical repetition.

No two rugs share this exact balance of blush clay and oxidized green.

This is heritage expressed softly — with elegance rather than drama.
